Rotator cuff injuries can be caused by a variety of factors, including:

Overuse: Repetitive motions, such as throwing a ball or lifting heavy objects, can put stress on the rotator cuff and lead to injury over time. This type of injury is common in athletes and individuals who perform manual labor.

Trauma: Sudden force or trauma to the shoulder, such as a fall or direct impact, can cause a rotator cuff injury. This type of injury is often seen in contact sports or as a result of a car accident.

Degeneration: As we age, the rotator cuff tendons can degenerate and become prone to injury. This type of injury is often seen in individuals over the age of 40 and can be related to a natural reduction in circulation, hormone levels, and collagen production.

Arthritis: Inflammation of the shoulder joint due to arthritis can cause rotator cuff injury. This type of injury is often seen in individuals with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.

Calcific Tendinitis: A buildup of calcium deposits in the rotator cuff can cause inflammation and pain. This type of injury is often seen in individuals over the age of 40 and can be related to degeneration and hormonal changes.

It’s important to note that rotator cuff injuries can occur in individuals of any age and can affect individuals with a wide range of physical abilities and activities.
